How to migrate a Windows Domain (NT or Active Directory) to a new one by using IDEAL Migration?

And what about personal files or folders with exclusive access?

I have to migrate my users' personal folders, which have very restrictive NTFS permissions, i.e., only their owners can access them.

Is this going to cause problems during migration?

Our software enables data to be imported and exported even if you don't have the necessary permissions for accessing the directories involved.

Example: user DOMAIN\User1 has complete exclusive access to her home directory, D:\User1. She (DOMAIN\User1) also owns all her files and directories. In such a case, no other user, not even the domain administrator, can access D:\User1.

Our tool gets round the NTFS security settings problem by using the Backup and Restoration of files and directories privilege, the same way backup programs (e.g., NTBackup) do.

You must therefore log on to a user account that has the Backup and Restoration of files and directories privilege. Members of the Administrators local group (by default) have this privilege.
