FAQ : IDEAL Migration

General

What are the situations in which IDEAL Migration can be used?

Your software seems to be intended specifically for domain migration, but I think there must be other instances where we can also use it. Can you please tell me what they are?

Here are some other instances where IDEAL Migration can be used:

  • When consolidating (regrouping) NT, 2000, or 2003 domains.
  • When migrating from Windows NT to Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Server.
  • When migrating from a resource server (file or print server) to another server of the same kind.
Important: IDEAL Migration manages Network Appliance type storage servers.
  • When consolidating resource servers.
  • When switching from workgroups to domains: user transfer to the new domain with preservation of user profiles.
  • For transferring user accounts, settings, and passwords to and from all kinds of servers (NT, 2000, 2003), whatever their working mode (mixed or native).
  • Changing shared directory disks or disk partitions and the files contained on them, while preserving all their access permissions.
  • Importing objects via CSV files (text files) that you yourself have generated or modified.
